“I would like to note your contribution to reducing damage from floods and wildfires in Siberia and the Far East, the Volga region and the south of Russia. In all cases, rescue operations and assistance to citizens were organized as quickly as possible,” Putin said at the board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to him, the branches of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions acted professionally and courageously.

“At the risk of their lives, rescuers evacuated people from dangerous areas, delivered humanitarian supplies and carried out mine clearance,” Putin added.

In mid-December, the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, opened a fire and rescue unit in Mariupol. He thanked the firefighters and rescuers of Mariupol for their perseverance and courage during a difficult period in the modern history of the city.

Last November, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the title “City of Military Glory” to Mariupol in the DPR.
