A terrorist leader on the run. This video purports to show Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and family members in a tunnel under the city of Khan Yunis.

The Israeli military released the video on Tuesday evening. It is said to have been taken on October 10, three days after the Hamas massacre.

A man can be seen on the video, according to Israeli information, presumably Sinwar's brother Ibrahim, Sinwar's wife and children and finally the Hamas leader himself.

The time and location of the recordings cannot be independently verified. It is not known where Sinwar and other Hamas leaders are currently located.

Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israeli military

»Yahya Sinwar is only interested in his own survival, at the expense of the people of Gaza. This video from Chan Junis is one of many. Hamas was exposed. Hamas is being torn down and Hamas leaders, wherever they are, should know: their time is up.”

Further footage released by Israel's military is said to show Sinwar hiding under the city of Khan Yunis. An Israeli soldier leads through the rooms in the video.

“Here on the right is one of the toilets and showers that they built for themselves underground.”

You can also see a kitchen and a room that is said to have been used by Sinwar's bodyguards. In a final room - supposedly Sinwar's room - a safe can be seen.

“They left everything behind when they fled. You've heard that Israel's military is getting closer, that we're getting closer. They knew we were coming and ran away. Here's a safe we opened. We found millions of shekels and US dollars. There’s more money over here.”

Israel has not announced why the photographs from the tunnel and the tour are being published at this time.

But one thing is clear: international pressure on Israel is increasing because of the many victims among the Palestinian civilian population. Nevertheless, Israel's prime minister and the military have been announcing an offensive on the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip for days. Hundreds of thousands of people who had previously fled to Rafah from other parts of the Gaza Strip are to be evacuated again. Israel has not yet presented any plans for this.
