Every morning, Jean Zeid delivers the best in terms of innovation. This Wednesday, he is interested in Fastpoint, a start-up which offers SecuriSPOT, a tool capable of detecting dangerous situations in risky industrial zones.

This Wednesday morning, we are focusing on workplace accidents.

And even at this moment before the work accident. We are talking about prevention here. In any case, this is the goal of Fastpoint, a start-up which has offered a tool capable of detecting dangerous situations in risky industrial zones.

It must be said that in this area, France is not a good student. Despite demanding workplace safety standards, the frequency of claims has not improved significantly for 20 years. Between 500 and 700 fatal accidents are counted each year with an average of 2.54 per 100,000 employees in 2020. The European Union average is 1.77 and the crown of champion is on the head of the Netherlands with 0.3 accidents per 100,000 employees.

What is the idea of this Fastpoint company?

The idea has the shape of a box. And this 20 cm high box has a little name: SecuriSPOT. It contains a good dose of computer components, visual sensors, and quite a bit of artificial intelligence. In short, it is a detector of people in a given area. Let's imagine that an employee passes through a so-called dangerous construction zone but without a mandatory construction helmet, a flashing light comes on, an alarm sounds, it is better to put on your helmet. it can also be on a chemical industrial site with a dangerous zone, and the same principle, if an employee has nothing to do there, SecuriSPOT. the charge rings and the employee must leave the premises and go through another building. Another example: If an employee falls to the ground, the system can also identify them and call 15 automatically.

What is the difference with surveillance cameras?

The SecuriSPOT does not have an onboard camera, it does not record any images or video streams to the outside. It is a detector which analyzes, up to 40 m away, predefined events with the aim of combating workplace accidents. It can thus remotely detect obstacles and therefore the risk of collision during a handling operation with a heavy vehicle.

An innovative system which is currently being tested.

This prevention system is actually tested at the Cherbourg naval base, at Idea, an industrial logistician. A test period which is ending and the market launch is expected at the beginning of 2024 and will be accompanied by fundraising for Fastpoint which hopes to convince companies to even better secure their site.
