The Association of Lung Clinics in Germany said that a cough accompanied by wheezing is due to narrowing or obstruction in the respiratory tract.
The association explained that if a cough accompanied by wheezing results from an obstruction in the upper respiratory tract, possible causes may include the following:
False noose
Inhalation of foreign bodies
Diphtheria
Cysts and tumors
Problems with the vocal cords
Allergic reaction
Some congenital heart diseases
If a wheezing cough is caused by an obstruction in the lower respiratory tract, possible causes may include:
Bronchial asthma
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Infections such as acute bronchitis
Allergic reaction
Pulmonary edema
weird body
Tumors/advanced respiratory stenosis
My heart disease
In any case, a doctor should be consulted to determine the real cause behind a cough accompanied by wheezing, especially while suffering from other symptoms such as shortness of breath.
