Al-Fateh Urwa said that Khartoum was ready to hand over Osama bin Laden to Washington on one condition (Al-Jazeera)

The former Sudanese National Security Advisor, Lieutenant General Pilot Al-Fateh Urwa, revealed to Al-Jazeera the secrets of Sudanese intelligence files and their most important intersections with Arab and non-Arab countries, most notably the Ethiopian coup and the smuggling of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Orwa’s speech came in a long dialogue with the “African Stories” podcast, presented by Ahmed Faal Ould El-Din on the “Atheer” platform on the Al Jazeera network.

The former Sudanese National Security Advisor said that Osama bin Laden took refuge in Sudan, but Khartoum was prepared to hand him over to Washington on one condition: that there be evidence of his involvement.

He pointed out that he suggested that Khartoum make an offer to Washington and say to it: "If your problem is with Osama bin Laden, do not accuse us. If you have cases against him, bring them to us and receive him and try him."

In the interview, Orwa praised the role of former Sudanese President Jaafar Numeiri in saving the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat from death in Jordan during the events of “Black September,” stressing that Numeiri boarded his plane after he was about to be killed during the ongoing war in Jordan, and took Arafat by the hand and drove him to Egypt to attend. African Summit in Cairo.

He added that the then King of Jordan, Hussein bin Talal, would not have allowed Arafat to leave Jordan had it not been for Numeiri, and that the Jordanian army would have killed Arafat if they caught him in Jordan.

During the interview published yesterday, Monday, Orwa talked about the secrets and behind the scenes of the assassination of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and the attempt of some Arab countries to have a hand in his assassination. He also revealed the details of the attempt to assassinate the late Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Orwa explained the details of the relationship between Sudan and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the National Liberation Movement (Fatah), stressing that Sudan does not collude with Israel to smuggle Falash Jews.

During the interview, Orwa explained the strategic importance of the Horn of Africa to Sudan, revealing Sudan's role in Meles Zenawi's coup in Ethiopia.
