Bloomberg reports this with reference to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

“China resolutely opposes illegal sanctions or “long-arm jurisdiction” against China,” the agency quoted the foreign ministry as saying.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also pointed out the inadmissibility of interference by third parties in bilateral relations between Beijing and Moscow.

China will respond decisively if sanctions are imposed on Chinese companies, it added.

On May 8, 2023, the Financial Times reported that the European Commission, for the first time since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, proposed introducing sanctions against Chinese companies allegedly supplying technical equipment to Russia.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that trade relations between Russia and China are not directed against third countries.
