Al Jazeera Media Network condemned on Tuesday the Israeli army's deliberate targeting of its correspondent, Ismail Abu Omar, and fellow photographer, Ahmed Matar, in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

The network confirmed - in a statement - that this targeting “is a full-fledged crime, in addition to Israel’s crimes against journalists.”

This is a new link in the series of the occupation army’s deliberate targeting of Al Jazeera’s crews and correspondents in Palestine.”

The network stressed that this targeting "comes to intimidate and intimidate journalists, and prevent them from reporting the heinous crimes committed by the occupation army against innocent civilians in Gaza."

She renewed her call on the international community, organizations defending journalists, and free people of the world to take immediate measures to protect journalists in the Gaza Strip, and to hold the Israeli occupation army accountable.

Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Abu Omar and fellow photographer Ahmed Matar were seriously injured earlier today as a result of an Israeli targeting by a drone in the Mirage area, north of the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

Al Jazeera correspondent Moamen Al-Sharafi reported that an Israeli drone fired at least one missile towards the two colleagues in direct targeting, which immediately led to the amputation of colleague Ismail Abu Omar’s right leg and the severe injury of his left leg. He also sustained serious injuries throughout his body as a result of fragments of the missile.
