A 54-year-old man died accidentally after hitting his head in the kitchen and days later his mother, an 87-year-old invalid, died of hunger and thirst in bed without being able to receive any assistance. The events occurred at number 5

4 Ocaña Street

, in the

Latina

district , where both people were found dead last Saturday. A tragedy full of fatality and that once again reflects the problem that many people experience in their homes:

loneliness

.

The neighbors of the two deceased people had

not seen them go outside for some time and had smelled an unpleasant smell from their home

. That's why they called the emergency room. It happened this past Saturday, February 10, and when the health workers arrived at the scene, they could not gain access. They knocked on the door, but no one answered. That's why they had to call the firefighters. who forced the door to access the home. Inside they found the bodies of the 54-year-old man and that of his mother whom he was caring for, an 87-year-old woman. The man was dead in the kitchen and his mother was in bed and there were no signs of violence on either body.

The national police who also entered the house verified that the bodies had possibly been dead for several weeks, as they showed signs of decomposition. They also warned that a priori, pending what the autopsy would determine, they had no signs of violent death.

Police sources indicate that it was soon known

what had happened

. The first hypotheses suggest that the son would have died of natural causes or some domestic accident. His body was in the kitchen with a large gash in his head. Thus, the man could have slipped and fallen in this room and suffered severe head trauma, which would have caused him to die.

His mother, completely dependent,

was left without the son who took care of her.

And she, therefore, was not able to move to find food or water. She died of hunger and thirst days after the death of her son, according to the newspaper ABC. She did not have any technological means of telecare or nearby telephone to ask for help.

The judicial commission ordered the removal of the bodies, which were in

an advanced state of decomposition

, and their transfer to the Institute of Legal Medicine, where autopsies were performed.
