Courts acquit a head of the Brians 2 prison module tried for torturing a prisoner
The acting judge of Martorell (Barcelona) has opened an investigation into
the violent death of an inmate
at the
Brians 1 penitentiary center,
in Sant Esteve de Sesrovires (Barcelona).
As sources close to the case have informed EFE, the prisoner
was found dead on Sunday morning in a cell in the Psychiatric Hospital Unit
of the Brians 1 penitentiary center, which
he shared with another prisoner
, and his death would have occurred during the Saturday night.
Sources familiar with the case explained to Europa Press this Monday that the prisoner was allegedly murdered by his cellmate.
The Department of Justice of the Generalitat has asked for caution in the face of these events, which the judge is investigating to clarify the causes of the violent death of this inmate.
The UGT union, in a statement, has regretted this incident and has once again denounced the staff shortage that in its opinion Catalonia's prisons have, as well as the "lack of security measures."
