“The draft federal law “On Amendments to Art. 14 of the federal law “On Veterans” proposes to grant disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War and disabled combatants the right to be provided with vehicles if they have appropriate medical indications and there are no contraindications to driving,” the text of the bill says.

As the deputies note, the provided car can be used as a specialized means of transportation, which will create additional necessary conditions for access to infrastructure facilities.

According to Nilov, the idea of the bill was updated following the results of a working trip to AvtoVAZ.

“I got acquainted with the production facilities of the plant, where vehicles are being converted to manual operation for people with disabilities. The procedure is inexpensive and quite quick. Unfortunately, today most disabled people are forced to pay for it out of their own pockets, just like for the car itself. But special vehicles are in great demand, and such a request was repeatedly voiced at meetings with veterans,” Nilov noted.

It is also assumed that the vehicle can be used to carry out business activities on its own transport - taxi, courier delivery, cargo delivery - as well as volunteer activities.

In addition, the bill proposes to ensure current and major repairs of vehicles provided to disabled war veterans, as well as to pay the costs of fuels and lubricants.

Earlier, a bill was introduced to the State Duma with a proposal to establish a memorable date at the state level on July 1 - Combat Veterans Day.
