The Ministry of Youth withdraws a campaign after criticism for using AI to celebrate the Day of Women and Girls in Science

, led by Sira Rego, has withdrawn a campaign due to the criticism raised. This is a campaign based on several images generated with

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

to celebrate the

International Day of Women and Girls in Science,

which was this Sunday.

This campaign was based on the use of Disney animated images such as 'The Little Mermaid' who was sitting in front of a microscope with the letters "she was not a princess. She was a marine biologist" and "it's not magic, it's science".

However, the numerous criticisms of this campaign, claiming the work of artists and designers instead of

Artificial Intelligence

, has led the Ministry to apologize to this sector and immediately remove the images.

"We have removed the images published today for the #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirlsInScience. This debate deserves deep reflection and the sector, an apology. The Government supports the creators and will listen to and incorporate their demands to regulate AI," the Ministry published in a message on social network X.
