For her first trip as Minister of National Education, Nicole Belloubet goes to a college in Reims to fight against cyberharassment. A phenomenon which affects more than one student per class. Europe 1 went to a high school where a teacher discusses cyberbullying and violence on social networks with her students.

Fight against all forms of school bullying. Nicole Belloubet is going to a college in Reims this Monday to reveal the results of the questionnaires on harassment, collected last November. A first trip for the new Minister of National Education marked with the stamp of the fight against harassment which affects more than one student per class in France. A phenomenon that is experienced both in the courtyard and on the screens, where it is growing.

A situation that worries teachers. At the Lucie Aubrac high school in Courbevoie, a history and geography teacher discusses cyberbullying and violence on social networks with her seconds in class. A course aimed at freeing speech. The teacher did not expect to receive such a quantity of testimonies. The students talk about “nudes”, these intimate photos distributed to destroy the reputation of a victim.

"I left my Snapchat account to people who sent nudes even though I never did any. Today, I don't care because I know what I'm worth. But when I was little , and all the girls are staring at you, it was complicated and I had to be alone at recess. Even my mother thinks it was me who sent the nudes,” says Inès.

Use the internet responsibly

The objective of this course is therefore to show students the most responsible way to use the internet and social networks. “The idea is that you make the internet better through your simple action as young people aged 15 to 16,” the teacher tells her students. The next lesson will focus on configuring their social networks to better secure them.
