  Zhao Wensheng is the executive deputy general manager of Cambodia Dadai Hydropower Co., Ltd. This year he and more than 100 Chinese and Cambodian employees spent the Spring Festival of the Year of the Dragon at the project camp.

  On the night of New Year's Eve, at the Dadai Hydropower Station camp, employees from China and Cambodia and local people sang and danced to welcome the Year of the Dragon. Sren Hong, deputy governor of Koh Kong Province where the project is located, said that Cambodian people have four New Year festivals: Cambodian New Year, Chinese New Year, Buddhist New Year and New Year's Day.

  Sanghong spoke highly of Chinese companies investing in Cambodia to promote local economic and social development and create a large number of job opportunities. He said: "The Dadai Hydropower Station project is a typical case. It alleviates Cambodia's power shortage and provides sufficient green and clean energy for our country's construction and development."

  The Dadai Hydropower Station was constructed by China National Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. with an investment of US$540 million. It was put into commercial operation in June 2015, with an average annual power generation of 1 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for approximately 10% of Cambodia’s national electricity market share.

  On February 11, reporters from China News Agency accompanied Zhao Wensheng upstream from the Dadai Hydropower Station dam. More than 20 kilometers upstream is the Shang Dadai Hydropower Station invested and constructed by China Heavy Machinery in a BOT (build-operate-transfer) manner.   Zhao Wensheng said that the Shang Dadai pumped hydro energy storage project is expected to start construction in the second half of this year. “The Dadai Hydropower Station, Upper Dadai Hydropower Station and pumped storage power station projects will make important contributions to Cambodia’s green power transformation and sustainable economic development.”

  In Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, hundreds of kilometers away from the Dadai River, more than 2,000 builders from China and Cambodia are making every effort to promote the construction of the Drexel International Airport project. In the past few days, Wu Yuqing, the project electromechanical person in charge of the First Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, has been busy organizing on-site construction while planning the manpower, materials and mechanical equipment for the project.

  Drexel International Airport is Cambodia's first 4F-level international airport. After the project is completed, it will become Cambodia’s gateway airport to the world. "Cambodia's weather conditions are better during the Spring Festival.   On New Year's Day, Meda's Chinese colleague Xie Haiqi sent New Year greetings to her family in China via video. Xie Haiqi left his hometown to spend the Spring Festival overseas for the first time. He said that although his colleagues came from different countries and had different cultural backgrounds, everyone played games and prepared performances together, which made it feel more lively than at home.

Zhang Jun, general manager of the installation company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau No. 1 Company, said: "During the Spring Festival, we followed traditional customs by posting Spring Festival couplets, hanging lanterns, and preparing New Year red envelopes and holiday gift packages in the project camp.
