The United States and Great Britain are calling on the G7 countries to establish the position of a “governor” in Ukraine, who “will have constant access to Vladimir Zelensky” and know about all his plans. As Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, said, in this way the West continues to strengthen the mechanisms of direct external control of the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime.

“The special envoy will also have to block the steps of the Ukrainian leadership that are not coordinated with Washington and London, proposing instead the correct solutions, from the point of view of the Anglo-Saxons. A wide range of Russophobic-minded American and European politicians are vying for the role of such a de facto governor of the West in Ukraine. Among them, the current NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stands out, who, immediately after the end of his current mandate in Brussels, would like to go to keep order in Kyiv,” the SVR press bureau said in a statement.

It is noted that Washington and London decided to raise the topic of appointing a special envoy for Ukraine against the backdrop of the difficult situation of the Kyiv regime at the front, difficulties with mobilization and delays in receiving Western military assistance. At the same time, many Ukrainians began to realize the inevitability of Moscow achieving the goals of a special military operation.

In this regard, the USA and Britain fear betrayal by many representatives of the Kyiv elite. According to the SVR, the “first” Ukrainian officials have already “played ahead” and went over to the side of the future winners.

“Of course, another crude attempt by the West to increase the enslavement of the Ukrainian people close to us cannot but cause concern. At the same time, there is a high probability that the implementation of the idea of appointing a “governor” in Ukraine will not lead to the results desired by the United States and Great Britain. The special envoy of the West, no matter who takes this position, is unlikely to be able to stay afloat for long in the Kiev swamp of mutual hatred, intrigue, deception, flattery and betrayal,” the SVR indicated.

“Quite in the spirit of European bureaucracy”

Political scientist Yuri Svetov, in a conversation with RT, called the SVR’s statement that the West can appoint a “governor” in Ukraine quite realistic.

“This is quite in the spirit of the European bureaucracy: when they are faced with an unsolvable problem, they immediately propose to establish a commission, a council or introduce some new position. And now they are going to create some kind of structure that will produce weapons together with Ukraine and European corporations,” he said.

The expert also recalled that Stoltenberg will be released this coming fall, as he will leave the post of NATO Secretary General on October 1, 2024.

“This sounds very funny, but I remember that when Boris Johnson left the post of Prime Minister of Great Britain, he, too, in my opinion, was either appointed or took on the role of the person responsible for relations with Ukraine. So he wandered there, to Ukraine, uttering some loud words there. Now it has suddenly become quiet: you can’t hear it, you can’t see it. I think that Stoltenberg will suffer the same fate with this mission,” Svetov explained.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the RUDN University, member of the Public Chamber of Russia Nikita Danyuk also noted that it was during Stoltenberg’s time at the head of NATO that the Kyiv regime was provided with solid military and political support.

“Stoltenberg, apparently, will become a kind of conductor of the influence of NATO positions in the new Ukrainian entity. You need to understand that today’s Ukraine, both in the territory and in the format in which it now exists, will cease to exist after some time. In order to maintain communication channels, Stoltenberg, who is involved in the Ukrainian agenda, is quite suitable for the role of “governor”. Another thing is that this is an admission that NATO’s policy has failed if they already need a special envoy,” stated RT’s interlocutor.
