According to a CSA survey for Europe 1, CNews and "Le Journal du Dimanche", if we ask the French what level of immigration they want in France on a scale of 0 to 10, 0 corresponding to zero immigration and 10 to total opening of the borders, the cursor must be placed on 3.9/10. But we observe a significant divide between left-wing sympathizers and right-wing sympathizers.

It's a subject that comes back very regularly to the forefront of the political and media scene, and which sometimes causes a stir: immigration. Between those who want a wider opening of French borders, and those who campaign on the contrary for a lower level, the debates are legion. But what exactly do the French want? This is the question answered by a CSA survey for Europe 1, CNews and

Le Journal du Dimanche

*, via a value scale.

A significant left-right divide

On a scale of 0 to 10, 0 corresponding to zero immigration and 10 to total opening of borders, what level of immigration do you want in France? The panel places the cursor on the score of 3.9/10. A result which varies from simple to double, and even from simple to triple depending on political orientation.

Left-wing sympathizers in fact increase the average with immigration to 5.7/10. The least inclined to a policy facilitating immigration are the Socialists with 5.1/10, while at the other end, we find the supporters of La France insoumise who place the cursor at 6.4/10.

On the other side of the political spectrum, the story is clearly different. Right-wing supporters estimate that the immigration level should reach 2.4 out of 10, or half the left's 5.7. Republican supporters place the cursor at 2.9/10, while for the National Rally, it should be at 1.8/10.
