“When making decisions on response measures to unfriendly steps, we are invariably guided by the tasks of effectively ensuring the national interests of our country and the sustainability of the global diamond industry as a whole,” the diplomat emphasized.

He also added that refusal to supply Russian stones will inevitably lead to the fact that Belgium will cease to be the world center of diamond trade, and other countries will become the center of gravity.

Previously, the European Union blacklisted Alrosa and the company’s general director, Pavel Marinychev, as part of a ban on the import of diamonds from Russia.
