  • Politics The PSOE and Abascal launch themselves against Feijóo's "lies" and "insult" after the PP admitted that "it studied the amnesty"

  • Politics The PP now admits that it gave itself "24 hours to study the amnesty for Puigdemont" in its August negotiation with Junts but saw it as "unconstitutional"

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, raised his voice this Sunday to try to stop the criticism he is receiving from both his left and his right after learning that the

popular party

was studying adopting a measure of grace for Carles Puigdemont in exchange for support of Junts at the investiture. "I said and I say no to any amnesty and I said and I say no to any pardon," he stated in statements to the media in

Ferrol

, before accusing "parties, especially

government parties"

, of wanting to "muddy up" the final stretch. of the Galician electoral campaign.

Sources from

Genoa

have admitted that, during their conversations last August with Junts, the PP "studied for 24 hours" the possibility of "an amnesty" for the former

president

who fled from justice, although they finally ruled it out because they saw it as "unconstitutional."

They also analyzed other requests from the independentists, such as the use of Catalan in

Congress

. All were rejected and Junts finally gave its support to Pedro Sánchez, who promised, among other things, an

Amnesty Law

that is currently being processed in Congress.

Last Thursday Puigdemont, cornered by the investigation into

Russia

's links with the independence movement, sent a letter to the members of the

European Parliament

in which he threatened to pull the rug out from under and tell the content of the August negotiations with the PP. "Everything will be known," he warned.

The former president of the Government,

José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero,

accused Feijóo this Sunday of carrying out a "controlled blast" and anticipating what Puigdemont was going to say. Feijóo says that "Sánchez has used the political opportunity" and he has "stayed" with his "principles."

"Break equality"

"I am going to be very clear and forceful enough. I have said no, I say no and I continue to say no to any amnesty," said Feijóo. "The reasons are two: it is illegal and unconstitutional and breaks the principle of equality of all Spaniards," he stressed.

Following this, he has also denied "any type of pardon because not a single one of the conditions is met." "And I said yes and I say yes again to the judicial investigation for any alleged act of terrorism or any alleged connection between the independence movement and

Putin

's regime ," she stated.

He added that "there are parties, especially Government parties, that want to muddy the campaign", in a veiled allusion to the PSOE, but also to Vox, and recalled that "it was Sánchez who gave in to be president" of the Government. "I maintain my principles," she insisted.

In the coming days, the PP is going to put all the emphasis on the Justice investigation of the independence supporters and on supporting the judges to investigate "to the end" all the crimes around Puigdemont, "whether they are terrorism, high treason, embezzlement or corruption."

"If the independence movement wants amnesty, they already have Sánchez to give it to them. Not me. With me, the independence movement cannot count on any type of amnesty, except to fight it."
