This Sunday morning, Gérald Darmanin announced several measures to fight against illegal immigration, such as the end of land law. Measures which delight Mansour Kamardine, LR deputy for Mayotte, who nevertheless hopes that the government will keep its promises.

While Mayotte is faced with numerous roadblocks, and the Mahorais are protesting against illegal immigration on their island, Gérald Darmanin is visiting the archipelago this Sunday. The Minister of the Interior announced this Sunday morning a constitutional revision to remove land rights on the island, as well as the end of territorialized visas and the limitation of family reunification. According to Mansour Kamardine, LR deputy for Mayotte, these are "proposals which go in the direction of what the Mahorais are demanding", he assured at the microphone of Europe 1 Midi weekend.

“We say to Gérald Darmanin ‘chiche’”

The end of land law is "an excellent proposal that we have been putting forward since 2005 because it is the only way to fight effectively against illegal immigration", insists Mansour Kamardine, who considers that a constitutional revision "is feasible, subject to". "We say to Gérald Darmanin 'chiche!'. Because Mayotte knows many unkept promises, including made by the head of state on the long trail, by the Keeper of the Seals, on the judicial city, by the head of the State on the second hospital in Mayotte... equipment necessary for territorial planning which has not been done. So we tell him 'little', we are ready, we must do it now, and in particular at the "opportunity for debates on constitutional reform concerning New Caledonia."

As for the continuation of the blockages on the island, Mansour Kamardine considers that the Mahorais people "have been quite widely expected and that, consequently, the blockades must be lifted in order to allow the fluidity of the functioning of society", and hopes that the government will keep its commitments.
