Mayotte has been blocked for three weeks. At issue are roadblocks erected by groups of citizens with the sole objective of stopping the massive arrivals of illegal immigrants. The entire archipelago is now paralyzed by this movement.

A situation still out of control. Mayotte has been blocked for 3 weeks, 3 weeks. Barriers have been established by citizen groups throughout the archipelago. Their objective: to say stop to the massive arrivals of illegal immigrants. The territory, located in the Indian Ocean, is now paralyzed by this movement. A situation which should last over time, because the “blockbusters” do not want to give up. Among them, Saphina, a mother who was one of the first on these roadblocks.

“It’s a turf war between us, the Mahorais, and the delinquents, war criminals, terrorists. We are going to fight to remain French, we are making these roadblocks for our survival,” she tells Europe 1. Because of these blockages, stores are less stocked, and residents are finding it increasingly difficult to do their shopping. “Pasta and rice are becoming increasingly rare because everyone is stocking up. The economy is not running smoothly so we are waiting for solutions,” says a resident of the archipelago.

Gérald Darmanin expected to emerge from the crisis

The Minister of the Interior is going to Mayotte to provide solutions to get out of this crisis. A visit which will not work miracles, according to Mansour Kamardine, a deputy from the archipelago. “We are in the middle of a civil war, we must above all avoid conflagration. I hope that the visit of the Minister of the Interior does not come too late,” he laments. Gérald Darmanin, brings with him around fifteen gendarmes from the GIGN to prepare an operation Wuambushu 2 after a first edition with contrasting results.
