“There are two main reasons for Zaluzhny’s change. The first is that Mr. Zaluzhny, judging by sociological surveys in Ukraine, overshadows the Ukrainian Supreme Commander in popularity,” he told RIA Novosti.

The second reason Zatulin named was the change in the nature of hostilities: Zaluzhny was responsible for ground operations, which were unsuccessful. But at the same time, ordinary citizens understood that Zaluzhny was given impossible tasks.

“In any case, it was necessary to find a scapegoat,” the deputy added.

On February 8, Zelensky announced that Syrsky had been appointed commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zaluzhny said that after his dismissal he did not hold any position.
