United States: White House counterattacks after report pointing to Biden's failing memory

The White House is trying to counterattack the day after the publication of the report of the special prosecutor responsible for the investigation into Joe Biden's classified documents. A report whose spirit the administration attempts to question, without discussing the results.

This Friday, February 9, the spokespersons followed one another to explain that special prosecutor Robert Hur had not found reason to prosecute Joe Biden in this case and that that is all that should be remembered. Except that what sparks an avalanche of comments is that in his report, the special prosecutor presents the president as an affable and friendly old man, but with a failing memory.

For the White House, the special prosecutor has stepped out of his role and the practices of the Justice Department and his comments are gratuitous, inaccurate and inappropriate, even politically motivated, according to Vice President Kamala Harris, because Robert Hur became prosecutor in being nominated by Donald Trump.

Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman, whose state will be decisive for the November election, denounced an operation led by a prosecutor “

appointed by Trump

” in order to “

 smear

” Joe Biden. Not all those close to the Democrat have ventured onto this politically slippery terrain, while the former Republican president, criminally charged four times, continues to cry about the use of justice against him.

Biden's age, a subject for his voters

As for the president's memory, the presidential spokesperson, while admitting that she is not a doctor, explains that she sees on a daily basis that it functions very well. She adds that Joe Biden has always had a tongue that tends to fork and mix names and countries, as has happened at least three times in recent days, and that this does not prevent him from doing his job with efficiency.

Karine Jean-Pierre chose the personal register: “

I have known this president since 2009. He was not only my boss, but also my mentor. And no one in this building would tell you what we saw

(in the special prosecutor's report)

about his memory

."

As for his age, 81, the president is aware that this is a subject for voters. The proof, he regularly jokes about, tempts those around him.
