The two Civil Guard agents murdered in Barbate are a Catalan born in Barcelona and a man from Cádiz who moved to the area in the fight against drug trafficking, according to Benemérita sources.

The first was David, an agent of the Rapid Action Group (GAR), married with two children. 43 years old, he was born in the Catalan capital.

The second, Miguel Ángel, 39 years old, belonged to the Special Group for Underwater Activities (GEAS), and was a native of San Fernando (Cádiz). He had a partner and a daughter.

Of the two injured agents, one is a native of Terrassa (Barcelona).

The Civil Guard has arrested five people for their alleged involvement in the death of the agents. Three of those arrested are crew members of the drug boat and the other two people who went to pick them up have also been arrested in Sotogrande.

The three on the boat are charged with two crimes of homicide and serious injuries to law enforcement officers. They are 21, 24 and 28 years old, all are Spanish, with a history of drug trafficking, attacks on an authority officer, injuries, crimes against property and money laundering.

The two who were going to pick them up are charged with the crime of concealment and serious resistance to a law enforcement agent. Aged 34 and 54, they have a history of drug trafficking and smuggling.
