Last Thursday, after the tremendous setback in the European Parliament, Carles Puigdemont pointed to Alberto Núñez Feijóo as the cause of the European setback, due to his alleged relations with the Moscow regime. That last confrontation brought to the present the conversations between the PP and Junts last August, within the process towards the investiture. And sources from Genoa, in conversation with journalists, commented that the PP "studied" this possibility for 24 hours.

Later, the Popular Party clarified that "once Junts made its demands known publicly and privately, the Popular Party assumed that it would be impossible to satisfy them." From the PP they accept: "Indeed, we analyzed that request and others, such as the use of Catalan in Congress. Regarding the amnesty, we confirmed and argued in a solid legal manner our refusal to carry out that law because it is manifestly unconstitutional. "In no case could we negotiate about something that we consider violates the Constitution." As proof of their refusal to advance Puigdemont's demand, they present "the result": "Junts chose at that moment to make Francina Armengol president of Congress and not Cuca Gamarra."

The pardons would also have been part of that negotiation in August, contacts in which Daniel Sirera, a popular councilor in the City Council, would have participated. And from Genoa they clarify that "with regard to pardons, as we always defended, any reconciliation proposal involves the recognition of the law and the Spanish Constitution and submission to the courts of Justice." This implies that "the cases pending in the courts must be concluded with sentences, including those of the people who fled our country to avoid their responsibilities," in reference to the former president who fled to Belgium. They close: "The pardon is a pardon from the State, the amnesty is a pardon that the entire country requests. Without submission to the courts of Justice there is no pardon in a State of law", which would mean that the pardon would have been above the table in case of Puigdemont's return to Spain.
