Police records

The arrests occurred at 1:30 in the morning this Saturday in the port of Sotogrande and, according to sources consulted by EL MUNDO, the three occupants of the detained drug boat - aged 21, 25 and 29 - are old acquaintances of the Forces and State Security Corps for the large number of police crimes they accumulate: drug trafficking, money laundering, attacks on law enforcement officers, injuries and crimes against road safety.

The pilot of the illegal boat and another person left them in Sotogrande after fleeing the port of Barbate, where the two agents died instantly and two others were injured. There they were arrested and transferred to the Algeciras Command. Along with them, the agents arrested two other men who traveled to Sotogrande to pick them up once they were on land. These two men are 34 and 54 years old and have a history of drug trafficking and smuggling.

The five are in the cells of Algeciras and will be transferred to the Civil Guard offices in Cádiz. Court number 1 of Barbate has taken charge of the proceedings.

"Marlaska resigns"

The majority group of the Civil Guard,

Jucil

, has already called for the "immediate" resignation of the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska. "He has shown himself incapable of solving the serious problems that drug trafficking causes in the south of Spain," indicates the group.

"For years this association has demanded the declaration of a Special Singularity Zone for this part of Spain where drug and human trafficking mafias act with increasing impunity," recalls the general secretary of Jucil, Ernesto

Vilariño.

"A few days ago we were demanding better means. Today, unfortunately, we have two dead colleagues and one more seriously injured crushed by a drug boat driven by murderers," he said. "The published videos make what happened even more terrible, with people cheering the murderers and laughing at the civil guards who, with their poor means, have died when they tried to do their duty: prevent drug trafficking," he added.
