Effects of the American strike that targeted the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Anbar (Anatolia)

An armed faction called the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” announced yesterday evening, Friday, that it was targeting Israel on the coast of the Dead Sea, in response to the Israeli war in Gaza.

The "Islamic Resistance" said in a statement on the Telegram platform that it targeted a "vital target" for Israel in support of Gaza "and in response to the massacres committed by Israel against Palestinian civilians, including children, women and the elderly," in reference to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7. the past.

In a separate statement, the "Islamic Resistance" announced that it would continue its attacks against American forces in the country.

She said, "The opportunity of the past few days revealed with certainty to the Iraqi people, friends, and responsible parties that the occupying enemy (the American forces)... only understands the language of weapons."

The US Army announced late last month that three of its members were killed and dozens of others were injured in a drone attack on a base in Jordan near the border with Syria, and Washington accused armed groups backed by Iran of being behind the attack.

White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said: “We believe the attack was planned and carried out by an umbrella organization called the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which includes several militias.”

The United States responded to the attack by carrying out a strike in Iraq that led to the killing of the leader of the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, Abu Baqir al-Saadi. It said that he was responsible for “planning and participating directly in attacks on American forces in the region.”

Iran rejected accusations of its involvement in the aforementioned attack, and said, "The resistance forces in the region do not receive instructions from Iran in their decisions and actions."

The "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" is a loose military formation, and a general name that includes a number of armed Iraqi factions and groups supported by Iran. It appeared after the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, and launched attacks with drones and missiles against military bases containing American forces in Iraq and Syria.

Israel is waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, the toll of which has risen - as of Friday - to 27,947 martyrs and 67,459 injured, according to the Palestinian authorities in the Gaza Strip, and Israel is being tried for it on charges of “genocide.”
