In April 2023, the Kiev City Council announced the termination of the lease agreement with the Russian Embassy in Kyiv and threatened to nationalize the building, the interlocutor recalled. The Russian Foreign Ministry promised to respond to this outrage.
“The principle of reciprocity in force in diplomacy presupposes a mirror response to this kind of action... According to information that has reached us, the lease agreement with the Ukrainian Embassy has allegedly already been terminated,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
In April 2023, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced the intention of the Kyiv administration to terminate the lease agreement for the land plot on which the Russian embassy building is located.
