He recalled that the tank must, among other things, hit the enemy with direct fire and maintain combat effectiveness under the influence of destructive weapons. At the same time, the experience of the North Military District shows that the main tank is increasingly performing artillery missions, working from closed positions.

“Tanks are often used alone in separate combat skirmishes, which also leads to specific, non-tank tactics,” Murakhovsky added.

Now the issue of protecting the tank from small enemy drones, loitering ammunition and FPV drones is acute, the military expert emphasized, adding that it is necessary to solve the problems of mine protection of the tank and overcoming minefields. Another task facing the military, he called supplying tanks with passive protection systems against UAVs and active drone suppression systems.

Since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, the supply of tanks to Russian troops has increased fivefold - such data were provided by President Vladimir Putin in early February.
