Demonstrations and marches are continuing - in many European capitals and cities - rejecting the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and demanding an immediate end to the war.

Al Jazeera's correspondent in Berlin, Ayman Al-Zubair, said that today the German capital is witnessing three massive demonstrations with the participation of human rights organizations and demonstrators from other cities, making it described as a "national march" and it is expected to end in front of the South African embassy to appreciate its efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.

The correspondent pointed out that the main slogan of the demonstrations is the call for a ceasefire in Gaza, in addition to slogans that have recently begun to appear in Germany in protest against some companies that human rights organizations accuse of cooperating with the Israeli occupation army.

He also pointed out some change in government positions, especially Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock's warning of a humanitarian catastrophe if the occupation army attacks Rafah, and the country's chancellor Olaf Scholz also called on Israel to respect international law. These positions do not convince the demonstrators, according to the reporter.

The German cities of Saarbrücken and Freiburg also witnessed two demonstrations in support of Palestine and Gaza.

In Paris, Al Jazeera correspondent Hafez Mrebih said that a massive demonstration started from Republic Square and was heading to Nation Square. He pointed out that the slogan of the demonstration called for by French trade unions and civil associations was to fight the extreme right and fascism, and the government’s identification with the extreme right not only in the country, but also in Israel, as the demonstrators see.

The reporter added that the demonstration also raises slogans calling for an end to the Israeli war on Gaza, stopping the killing of Palestinians, lifting the siege on Gaza, and bringing in humanitarian aid, noting that the demonstrators raised Palestinian flags.

He pointed out that most age groups participated in the demonstration, from children and youth to the elderly, although the majority were young people, which indicates that this group has become aware of the Palestinian issue.

Dozens of events in Britain

In the capital, London, Al Jazeera correspondent Asad Allah Al-Sawy said that there is a national movement today, with pro-Palestine activities taking place in 34 cities, including more than 40 demonstrations.

The reporter explained that the demonstrators are raising the slogans “Stop genocide,” “Stop British government complicity with Israeli crimes in Gaza,” “Stop arms exports to Israel,” “Stop supporting Israel politically and militarily,” “Freedom for Palestine,” and other slogans.

The British capital witnessed a march on Friday evening in support of Palestine and rejecting the massacres committed by Israel against children in this besieged Strip, in which teachers participated.

The demonstrators first gathered in front of the Ministry of Interior building, then marched towards the Ministry of Education, then to Building No. 10, the Prime Minister’s official residence on Downing Street.

At the end of the march, the demonstrators gathered in this street and raised pictures of some of the children who were killed as a result of the Israeli attacks on Gaza, and placed children’s clothes stained with red paint in front of the building.

Dozens also demonstrated in the Dutch city of Utrecht, in protest against the continuation of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for an immediate ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip. They also raised banners denouncing the continued massacres, the targeting of women, the elderly and children, and the attacks on the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip.

Activists also demonstrated in the city of Renxent, Denmark, denouncing the ongoing war on the Strip. The demonstrators demanded urgent international intervention to stop the Israeli attacks, allow residents of the Gaza Strip cities to return to their homes, and end the siege on Gaza. The city's train station also witnessed a sit-in to protest the Gaza war.

Also in Europe, thousands demonstrated in the Austrian capital, the Swedish city of Malmo, and Aarhus, Denmark.

Silent march of doctors

In Istanbul, Turkey, dozens of doctors and health workers participated, on Saturday, in a march in solidarity with the Palestinian Gaza Strip and to protest the Israeli attacks.

Anatolia Agency reported that a group of doctors and health workers organized a vigil in front of the mausoleum of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, in the Fatih district of Istanbul.

The agency explained that participants in the event walked from the mausoleum of Sultan Abdul Hamid II to Sultan Ahmed Square, raising banners in Turkish and English.

In a speech he delivered on behalf of the participants, Doctor Hamza Ayaz said that the systematic Israeli repression in Palestine has become more severe since October 7, 2023.

Ayaz stressed that the practices of the Israeli occupation continue to an extent that cannot be described with any word other than genocide, criticizing the countries cooperating with Israel.

Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive infrastructure destruction, which led to Israel being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide.
