Israel refuses to commit to ending the war after completing the implementation of the deal (French)

A leading source in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) told Al Jazeera that the movement discussed its position on the ceasefire agreement with the mediators in Cairo, and that it is awaiting the Israeli response.

This came following the arrival of a delegation from the movement - Thursday - to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, where it met with a number of Egyptian officials “to complete talks related to the ceasefire,” the movement announced.

On the other hand, Israeli media quoted an Israeli official as saying that Tel Aviv expressed its willingness to negotiate on the basis of the Paris meeting proposal, and that it had delivered its response to Hamas’ proposal to Qatar and Egypt, and that the response included rejecting a large part of the movement’s demands.

Not to stop the war

According to the official, Israel refuses to commit to ending the war after completing the implementation of the deal.

He pointed out that Israel rejected the army's withdrawal from the corridor that divides the Gaza Strip early in the first phase, and also informed the mediators that it would not agree to the return of residents to the northern Gaza Strip.

He added that Tel Aviv expressed its willingness to study the army's withdrawal from city centers in the Gaza Strip, but made it clear to the mediators that it was not ready to discuss lifting the siege on the Strip.

But the Israeli official confirmed that Israel is working with Egypt and Qatar to reduce the gap, enabling serious negotiations to take place.

Stopping the aggression against the Gaza Strip is one of the most prominent problematic points in the negotiations, as the resistance factions refuse to discuss any proposals before stopping the aggression, withdrawing the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, and lifting the siege on the Strip.

Burns is expected to travel to Egypt next Tuesday (French)

Burns to Cairo

Meanwhile, the American website Axios reported that President Joe Biden will send CIA Director William Burns to Egypt to hold meetings with officials in Cairo, in the latest attempt to conclude an agreement regarding detainees in Gaza.

The website quoted American and Israeli officials as saying that Burns is expected to travel to Egypt next Tuesday.

A White House spokesman said that President Biden and his team are seeking a humanitarian truce that includes the return of the hostages and the delivery of aid to Gaza.

On January 28, a meeting was held in the French capital with the participation of Israel, the United States, Egypt and Qatar to discuss a prisoner exchange deal and stop the war in Gaza, which will take place in three stages, according to Palestinian and American sources.

Axios reported that Israel is ready to enter into negotiations on the basis of the original proposal that was formulated two weeks ago in Paris.

According to the American website, Israel sent to the mediators (Qatar, the United States, and Egypt) - at the end of the war cabinet meeting last night - messages rejecting most of Hamas’s responses on the broad lines.
