“Jolie” magazine recommended that women take care of their skin according to the stages of the menstrual cycle, as each stage requires special care that suits their characteristics and meets their needs.

The magazine explained that skin care can be done according to the stages of the menstrual cycle as follows:

Menstrual phase (days 1-7)

At this stage, the skin is often dry and sensitive. Therefore, a mild and moisturizing cleanser should be used to gently remove dirt and oils. A moisturizer rich in soothing ingredients such as aloe vera or chamomile should be used to soothe and moisturize the skin.

Follicular phase (days 8-13)

Estrogen levels increase in the follicular phase, which may lead to improved skin hydration. At this stage, a gentle cleanser should be used to remove impurities from the skin.

Products with light, non-greasy moisturizing formulas are ideal for this purpose. Broad spectrum sunscreens should also be used to protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

Ovulation phase (days 14-18)

During this stage, the production of oily secretions (sebum) may increase, which may lead to pimples. Therefore, cleansing products that contain ingredients such as salicylic acid or tea tree oil should be used to remove excess sebum and combat blemishes. A lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer should also be added to your daily routine to avoid clogged pores.

Luteal phase (days 19-28)

In the luteal phase, increased skin sebum and possibly acne can occur. Therefore, products containing anti-inflammatory ingredients such as tea tree oil, retinol, or benzoyl peroxide should be used to reduce the appearance of pimples.

A gentle cleanser should also be used to remove dirt and oil, and a light moisturizer that does not add additional oil to the skin.
