The government decided at a cabinet meeting on the 9th to amend the Act on Supporting the Independence of People in Need, which includes strengthening support for single elderly people living in financial difficulties and children of households receiving public assistance. did.

The revised bill approved by the Cabinet takes into consideration the increasing number of elderly people living alone who are in difficult economic situations, and will strengthen comprehensive monitoring support from move-in to move-out for those who have difficulty securing housing.

In addition, the scope of the ``Housing Security Benefit,'' which is provided to people who lose their jobs and find it difficult to pay rent, will be expanded, and the money will be used to cover the cost of moving elderly people to housing with lower rents. I'm trying to do that.

Additionally, to strengthen support for children in households receiving welfare, the plan includes providing a lump-sum grant to those who find employment after graduating from high school, in the same way as if they went on to higher education.

If you live alone, you will receive 300,000 yen, and if you continue to live with your family and the entire household no longer receives welfare benefits due to your new income, you will receive 100,000 yen, and some people will graduate this March. This is the target direction.

The government plans to submit an amendment bill to the current Diet session and aim for its early enactment.
