Who is who? Senator Chris Coons (l.) and Olaf Scholz pose for the photo

The background to the Chancellor's visit to the USA is serious, but Olaf Scholz didn't miss a little joke. During his visit to Washington, the Chancellor met the Democratic Senator from Delaware. Chris Coon and Scholz probably recognized each other quickly. From their hairstyles to their smiles, the politicians look very similar.

Both took this as an opportunity to take photos together. “Great to see my doppelganger again,” Scholz commented on the picture on X, formerly Twitter. The senator posted a similar picture there and asked in German: “Who is who?”

This is not the first meeting between politicians. A meeting took place in November 2021. Even back then, the similarity between the two caused amusement. The US platform “Reaction” reported at the time that there was hope for those doppelganger agencies that had been looking for a suitable actor since Scholz took office.

Scholz traveled to Washington and is expected to be received there by President Joe Biden. This is Scholz's third visit to the White House as Chancellor. The topics will be military aid for Ukraine, the conflict in the Middle East and the NATO summit in the summer.
