The Israeli economic newspaper Calcalist revealed that reserve soldiers in the Israeli occupation army were forced to sell their military equipment in search of money, as a result of their lack of basic financial resources due to the war on the Gaza Strip.

The newspaper said that dozens of reserve soldiers in the Israeli army published advertisements on social media, offering various combat equipment and tools at low prices.

The newspaper published testimonies from soldiers who returned to their homes with “unused” special combat equipment, with a total value of tens and hundreds of thousands of shekels, confirming that some of them store this equipment in their homes for future use, while the rest prefer to sell it for financial gain.

A story of neglect

The newspaper considered that the spread of the large number of these advertisements was mainly due to the story of the army, which neglected its mission and failed to provide basic combat equipment to the reserve soldiers it sent to fight Hamas and Hezbollah.

She added that thousands of soldiers who were sent to the war in Gaza and the northern border with Lebanon found themselves with old, missing, or irrelevant equipment, and after they realized that the Israeli army would not be able to provide them with that equipment, they turned to donors or to buy equipment on social networks. Social.

The newspaper also quoted a senior officer in the Israeli army - who refused to mention his name - as saying that the lack of combat equipment was due to the fact that the army was not prepared for a comprehensive war that would include the recruitment of hundreds of thousands of reserve soldiers.

Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving 27,947 martyrs and 67,459 injured, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure.
