Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Friday that Israel is working to drag the United States of America into the quagmire of war in the region.

This came in a press conference held by Abdullahian at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, following his arrival on an indefinite visit, during which he will meet with Lebanese officials.

Abdullahian stressed that his country called on Washington to stop supporting Israel in its crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

He added, after 4 months of genocide in the Gaza Strip, Israel has not achieved any of the war goals.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed his country's continued support for Hezbollah, noting that Lebanon's security is the security of Iran and the region.

He pointed out that the resistance leaders in Palestine and Lebanon carried out their work with full insight, stressing that Hezbollah and the resistance in Lebanon courageously fulfilled their deterrent and influential role, he said.

Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving 27,947 martyrs and 67,459 injured, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure.
