After weeks of hesitation, French President Emmanuel Macron has completed his government and appointed 20 additional cabinet members. He replaced Education Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, who had come under criticism because of a private school affair, in this department with former Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet, as can be seen from the list published in Paris on Thursday evening.

After taking office, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra justified her children's attendance at private school with the loss of too many hours at the state school. The minister then found herself exposed to a wave of criticism.

However, Oudéa-Castéra remains responsible for sport and thus the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer.

The new deputy minister for Europe will be 40-year-old Jean-Noël Barrot, who was previously responsible for the digital economy. In his new position he will also be responsible for relations with Germany. His predecessor Laurence Boone is no longer in the cabinet.

The new French government consists of 35 members, 18 women and 17 men. However, most influential ministries are in male hands.
