In ski resorts, attendance is high. Only the question of snow cover persists for small and medium mountain resorts. In Alpe d'Huez, the season is off to a flying start with snow in store for holidaymakers.

For zone C, the February holidays start this Friday evening! A first wave of vacationers will descend on winter sports resorts despite the lack of snow. In some resorts, however, snow should return this weekend. The craze for skiing has never been stronger. Reservation rates are at their highest and morale is high in all major resorts such as Alpe d'Huez, in Isère.

“We have a smile!”

At Alpe d'Huez, all the lights are green, starting with the ski conditions which are ideal: "We have more than three meters of snow at the summit at 3,300 m altitude. 100% of the ski area is open, I believe that we are the only resort in France today to have its entire area open. Contrary to what we sometimes hear, there is a very great appetite for staying in the mountains. So , we have a smile!”, assures François Badjili, director of the tourist office.

“All the lights are green”: the ski resorts are opening this weekend, the French are there

Reservations, already very good in December, are excellent for this month of February, explains Stéphanie, manager of the Castillan hotel: "We have a 95% occupancy rate so that's very good. 50% French clientele and 50% foreign customers. We are very happy."

“The phone never stops”

The same goes for restaurants, for example Patrick's is full: "The phone never stops. I'll show you: look at this, that's all the reservations for this evening. And every day, I refuse at least double of my capacity which is 60 seats."

The final good news is that snow should fall here this weekend. The hope now is that all resorts in the Alps will be served, including those in medium mountains, located below 1,500 meters above sea level.
