Since the start of the year, Ukraine

has

no longer received American military aid. At issue: the long negotiations then the rejection by the Republicans in Congress of the law which combined aid to allies and measures on immigration, a real point of crystallization in the American presidential campaign. This first version definitively buried, the American senators are launching a new project: they only include military aid to the allies: 95 billion dollars in total for Israel, Taiwan and Ukraine, which would be granted the lion's share with 60 billion.

For the moment, a large majority of American senators, including some Republicans, agree to discuss it. They will even stay in Washington as long as it takes to agree on the text, explains the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, that is to say several days, including the Sunday of Super Bowl, the final of the American football championship, if necessary.

This is because beyond the emergency, the obstacles will not be easy to overcome: we will have to convince enough Republicans to follow through with their idea, while some are very reluctant, and it will be necessary then convince a majority of the House of Representatives, where the Trumpist elected representatives of the Republican majority are downright hostile to any new funding for Ukraine.
