On Friday, February 9, it became known that Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu visited the control point of one of the formations of the Western Group of Forces, where he heard reports from the commander of the military district and the commanders of the formations on the current situation and plans for further actions in the area of ​​the Northern Military District.

The head of the defense department drew special attention of commanders and commanders to organizing the continuous supply of troops with weapons, military equipment, ammunition and all the necessary material resources for the successful completion of combat missions.

At the same time, the commander of the “West” group, Colonel General Yevgeny Nikiforov, reported to Shoigu about the high efficiency of interaction between the group’s assault detachments and the reconnaissance, strike and fire complexes received by the troops during the breakthrough of the enemy’s defenses.

In turn, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation thanked the commanders and commanders for the competent management of troops, as a result of which the fighters of the Western Group of Forces continue to improve the situation along the front line. In addition, he focused the attention of commanders and commanders on active reconnaissance to the entire depth of the enemy’s defense and proactive actions.

In addition, the army general checked the work of the headquarters of the group of troops covering the state border of the Russian Federation.

The commander of the group, the Chief of the Main Staff of the Ground Forces, as well as representatives of the Border Directorate of the FSB of Russia and the National Guard troops made reports to Shoigu. They reported on the organization of comprehensive interaction and the implementation of a set of joint activities. The minister set the task of additionally allocating reconnaissance and strike assets to the group’s units.

To sum up the work at the control points of the force groups, the Russian Minister of Defense held a meeting at the headquarters of the Joint Group of Forces. Sergei Shoigu heard reports from commanders on the current situation in the Northern Military District zone, the nature of enemy actions and the performance of combat missions by troops in operational directions.

In particular, the head of the department was shown materials from objective monitoring of the destruction of military equipment and Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities over the past 24 hours. Thus, in the Krasnolimansky direction, a US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system was destroyed, in the Kherson direction - the positions of a division of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system and an ammunition depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in the area of ​​​​the settlement of Chasov Yar (DPR) - an M777 artillery system made in the USA.

“Army General Sergei Shoigu thanked the commanders of the groups for their skillful leadership of the troops, as well as the personnel for conducting successful offensive operations in most directions and capturing more advantageous positions for our troops. The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation instructed to keep under special control the issues of continuous and rhythmic supply of troop groups in areas of special military operations,” the message says.
