According to the specialist, first of all, the employer pays attention to the design of the resume. A portfolio that is too long and sloppy can cause negativity.

“A potential employer will be much more pleased to consider your candidacy if he understands that you value his time and are ready to tell about yourself in a convenient, readable format. The resume size should not exceed two A4 pages. In addition, it must be designed in the same style, font size and color. You should not make inappropriate accents that distract attention. The resume must have a clear structure,” the expert explained.

Another important detail of a resume is a photograph. Many candidates choose not the most advantageous options, the specialist notes.

“You need to add a professional business photo, in a business style. According to statistics, such a photo increases resume viewing by 78% and, accordingly, increases the chances of receiving more invitations to interviews. A selfie, a photo from the sea or a corporate event, especially with a glass of wine, definitely won’t do,” explained Semerenko.

Another factor repelling a future manager may be copying the same responsibilities at each place of work.

“Even if you performed the same functions at different places of work, try to highlight the features, show your growth, how your competencies developed. The employer is mainly interested in your last work activity for seven to ten years; describe it in such a way that your experience, which is needed by a particular company, shines through,” she added.

It is also important to indicate in your resume a suitable education that will definitely interest the employer.

“Education must meet the stated requirements. If you are applying for the position of an accountant, and over the past five years you have only completed psychology courses, then you should not write about it. Sign up for specialized courses that will meet the criteria for the desired position. Thus, you will show that you are seriously immersed in this topic and strengthen your resume with relevant additional education,” the expert emphasized.

An earlier survey showed that a third of Russians consider a 5/2 work schedule ideal.
