China News Service, Taipei, February 7 (Xinhua) Taiwan Sugar Corporation (Taiwan Sugar)'s Anxin dolphin plum blossom meat sliced products were recently detected in Taichung City with clenbuterol "Cimbuterol" (Cimbuterol). Taiwan Sugar applied for re-inspection on February 5. The Food and Drug Administration and the Taichung City Government conducted separate inspections. The re-inspection results announced on the 7th showed that clenbuterol was detected in both cases.

According to reports from Taiwanese media such as Central News Agency, China Times News Network, and United News Network, Taichung City food safety management personnel recently inspected Taiwan Sugar's self-produced Anxin dolphin plum blossom meat slices. The test results were announced on February 2 and were found to contain banned substances in Taiwan's food safety regulations. Clenbuterol "Sibutrol" has a value of 0.002ppm. Some veterinarians said that "Sibuterol" is nearly a thousand times more toxic than the "ractopamine" in the American "Lai Pig".

However, both the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration of Taiwan authorities later stated that no meat samples from the same batch were detected. The incident fell into "Rashomon".

After Taiwan Sugar submitted an application for re-inspection, the Food and Drug Administration and the Taichung City Government simultaneously started re-inspection of the remaining samples on the 6th. The Taichung City Government invited Food and Drug Administration officials, experts, Taiwan Sugar personnel and city government personnel to participate in the re-inspection. The re-inspection results were announced on the 7th, containing 0.002 ppm "Sibutrol".

The results announced by the Food and Drug Administration on the same day showed that 0.001ppm of "Sibuterol" was detected. According to reports, the agency tested the samples three times and the results were 0.0013ppm, 0.0014ppm, and 0.0014ppm respectively.

The person in charge of the "Food and Drug Administration" said that although the value of 0.001ppm is very low and close to the detection limit, the detection has a scientific basis and it is confirmed that it has been detected. As for the source of "Sibutero", an expert meeting will be held after this year to clarify. (over)
