On the accusation made to him of trying to stay in power first, Macky Sall repeated his decision of not wanting to take part in

Senegal

's next presidential election . “

It is not the one who sought to shorten a 7-year mandate who will try to eat away 10

months,” commented the Secretary General of the government, Seydou Gueye, contacted by RFI.

No one should any longer suspect the president of wanting to keep power

.”

While many were wondering about the fate of majority candidate Amadou Ba, the Head of State also renewed his confidence in the Prime Minister, also asked that all arrangements be made to organize the presidential election on the new date set, on December 15, 2024. Clearly, Amadou Ba remains, for the moment, the candidate of the presidential majority.

We must not fall into the trap of dialogue

,” immediately reacted an executive from Ousmane Sonko’s opposition party, Amadou Ba. "

Before any dialogue, we must reestablish the principle of the election on February 25

,” he adds.
