The ministerial consultative meeting regarding the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip began in Riyadh on Thursday evening. The foreign ministers of Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE and Saudi Arabia will participate in the meeting, in addition to the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry did not clarify the time frame for the beginning and end of the meeting, which comes in the midst of discussions sponsored by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, to reach a deal between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) for the exchange of prisoners and a ceasefire in Gaza.

Earlier, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “Today (Thursday), Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi is participating in the Arab ministerial consultative meeting, hosted by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan in Riyadh, to discuss developments in the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.”

In a parallel context, the Saudi Press Agency said that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, during which they discussed developments in Gaza and efforts to deal with its repercussions.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of Genocide, for the first time in its history.
