Russia: the only opponent in the presidential election, Boris Nadejdine, sees his candidacy rejected

In Russia, the pacifist Boris Nadejdine will not challenge Vladimir Putin in the presidential election next March. The Russian Election Commission invalidated his candidacy. She cites too many irregularities in 104,000 sponsorship signatures presented by the candidate to justify her decision.

I will appeal to the Supreme Court

,” said Boris Nadejdine. Even if the invalidation of his candidacy has not yet been notified to him, the opponent remains combative. For several days, there was little doubt about his ouster from the presidential race.

His comments against the war, for a rapprochement with the West or even against the ban on the LGBT movement in Russia were surprising, because several Russian personalities have been arrested and sentenced for having made the same type of comments.

But for Boris Nadejdine, the fact that he does not have the right to participate in the presidential election demonstrates one thing: that his candidacy is on the rise and that it scares the presidential administration. According to the opponent, its result could disrupt the plebiscite in favor of Vladimir Putin prepared by the Kremlin.

For the moment, only representatives of parties represented in the Duma have obtained the right to challenge Vladimir Putin. So much fodder to highlight the victory of the outgoing president, which no one in Russia has ever doubted.
