On Wednesday, February 7, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported several attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch strikes on the territory of the Belgorod region.

“At about 19:50, another attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation using the RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system was stopped,” the department said, adding that the air defense systems on duty destroyed five shells.

An attack using the RM-70 Vampire MLRS (the Czechoslovak equivalent of the BM-21 Grad) was also reported during the day. According to the Ministry of Defense, at about 16:30 Moscow time, seven missiles fired from this complex were intercepted in the sky over the Belgorod region.

In addition, at about 17:20 Moscow time, an attempted attack using two aircraft-type drones was stopped in the same region.

The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, provided details of what happened. According to him, as a result of the evening attack, according to preliminary data, no one was injured, but at least two people were injured in the daytime attack.

“One man suffered barotrauma; he received the necessary medical care on the spot; he refused hospitalization. The ambulance team takes the second wounded man to city hospital No. 2 in Belgorod - he has a shrapnel wound to the head and a contusion, all the necessary medical care is being provided,” he wrote on Telegram.

Gladkov also reported that on Wednesday the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the outskirts of the village of Poroz, Grayvoronsky urban district, using a kamikaze drone. He clarified that no one was injured as a result of this attack, but an infrastructure communications facility was damaged.

The regional governor recalled that exactly 40 days ago a terrible tragedy occurred in Belgorod, when 25 people were killed and more than 100 were injured of varying degrees of severity as a result of shelling of the central areas of the city from MLRS.

“According to Orthodox tradition, on the 40th day we remember the dead: children, relatives, friends and colleagues, our fellow countrymen, those who found themselves in Belgorod on business during these December days. All these people, like all of us, dreamed and made plans for the future, but were brutally killed by the enemy,” Gladkov wrote.

We would like to add that a UAV attack on the region was also reported on the night of February 6. As the Ministry of Defense stated then, air defense systems on duty intercepted seven Ukrainian drones.

Another attempt to attack several Russian regions was noted on the night of February 3. According to the Ministry of Defense, four aircraft were shot down over the Belgorod region, two over the Volgograd region and one over the Rostov region.

Strike on Lisichansk

In addition, on February 3, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a missile attack on the city of Lisichansk in the LPR. The building of a local bakery and a nearby cafe, in which local residents were present at that time, were destroyed. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 28 people died as a result, including one child.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the strike, according to preliminary data, was carried out using Western weapons. “The new terrorist attack is a “gratitude” from Kyiv extremists for the “generous” financial support of the European Union countries,” said department official Maria Zakharova.

The diplomat called what happened in Lisichansk another proof of the criminal nature of the Kyiv regime. She also recalled the statement of Vladimir Putin, who earlier stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had finally turned into a terrorist organization.

In turn, Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the crimes of the Kyiv regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces committed a deliberate war crime aimed at exterminating civilians and destroying a civilian facility.

He stressed that the targeted attack on a bakery and cafe “in the heat of Saturday afternoon” indicates that he initially intended to kill and wound civilians.
