According to him, the United States intends to make an exchange similar to Japan and South Korea, when states that officially announced their reluctance to export weapons to the conflict zone transferred them to Washington to compensate for the supply of weapons from US arsenals to Kyiv.

Sanger notes that the American administration is also considering an option in which the European Union will be “forced” to pay for US weapons and send them to Ukraine.

Earlier, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the EU had already depleted its reserves and did not have a magic wand to give Ukraine more shells.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also noted that the Ukrainian authorities may soon face a serious shortage of weapons and ammunition.
