The identity association La Citadelle was dissolved this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers. Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior, launched the procedure on December 8, following the dissolution of the Martel Division, a small group implicated in the punitive expedition carried out in Romans-sur-Isère after the death by Thomas.

The dissolution of La Citadelle is now effective. As Europe 1 revealed on December 7, Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior, had this Lille identity association in his sights. He was accused in particular of "inciting hatred and violence" and "implementing a xenophobic ideology".

An information letter was sent to Aurélien Verhassel, the president of the La Citadelle association, to inform him of this desire for dissolution. The procedure was launched the next day, December 8, before being officially dissolved this Wednesday, February 7.

In February 2023, Gérald Darmanin had obtained the ban on a controversial evening within La Citadelle, entitled “Let them return to Africa”, in reference to the remarks made in the hemicycle by the RN deputy Grégoire de Fournas.
