  Data shows that TSMC has ranked first in Taiwan for eight consecutive years in the number of applications for three patents. In 2023, it applied for 1,956 applications, a year-on-year increase of 28%, all of which are invention patents; MediaTek Technology Co., Ltd. applied for 544 applications, ranking second; AU Optronics Co., Ltd. Limited companies applied for 460 applications, ranking third.

  In terms of school patent applications, Taipei City University of Science and Technology has applied for 140 applications, ranking first among all schools for four consecutive years, with applications mainly for new patents; followed by National Cheng Kung University, with 131 applications, mainly for invention patents; third is Chang Gung Memorial University of Science and Technology , 118 applications were made.

  According to the Intellectual Property Administration, there were 91,535 trademark registration applications in Taiwan in 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 3%. Among them, Taiwan Unified Enterprises applied for 583 applications, ranking first among local legal person applications in Taiwan for four consecutive years; followed by Taishin Bank with 454 applications.
