Every morning, Jean Zeid delivers the best in terms of innovation. This Tuesday, he is interested in the company Ops Clean which focuses on detergent without detergent, based on magnesium beads placed in reusable bags.

This Wednesday morning, we're talking laundry.

It had to happen. After grandmother's laundry detergent, industrial laundry detergent and homemade laundry detergent, here is laundry detergent without detergent.

Powder, liquid, tablet, capsule, Baptiste Duranton, marketing manager in cosmetics, one day looked for an alternative because this detergent caused him problems. skin problems. He came across a Japanese technique using magnesium balls. A process which is not protected by any particular patent.

How do these magnesium beads clean laundry?

Well, upon contact with water, a chemical reaction occurs which will release magnesium hydroxide and dihydrogen causing an increase in the pH of the water, ideal for cleaning, a pH located between that of soap and bleach. , but without the stinging or allergenic disadvantages. However, magnesium is non-toxic and harmless to the environment and your health.

Once we have said that, we still have to do laboratory tests, which is what Jean-Baptiste will do, who joins forces with a friend, Marc Biessy, to launch his company Ops Clean in Lyon a few months ago on own funds.

They will then import the magnesium beads from China placed in reusable bags.

Reusable, but how many times?

Nearly 350 times, it wasn't Jean Zeid who counted, it was Ops Clea. The wear of the magnesium balls per wash cycle is very low according to the founders of Ops Clean.

The solution was marketed in February 2023, just one year at a price of 40 euros. They have sold nearly 5,000 cleansing sachets since last November. To date, Ops clean is distributed on the Amazon marketplace as well as in some Biocoop points of sale. The giant which a few weeks ago awarded the European Start-up of the Year 2023 prize to Ops clean with an endowment of 100,000 euros and the promotion of their products on their online store.

And customer returns?

They are good, but this will allow me to clarify one thing: Ops clean does not include stain removal agents in its formula, because they are pollutants that are not very effective in reality, and 90% of the clothes we put in the washing machine are not actually stained. Ops Clean should release a stain remover this year to complete this offer.
