19 handbags and various fashion items for a total amount of one million euros: this is the damage suffered by the luxury brand Hermès. According to information from Europe 1, order pickers, hired by the company, modified or added items to the packages of accomplices. The employees, six of whom were accused, were placed in police custody.

This is a scam that is still little known to the general public and can be very costly for businesses. Hermes experienced it to his cost. According to information from Europe 1, six individuals were arrested in Bobigny after the theft of more than a million euros of products from the luxury brand.

“Inflated” or modified orders

Three of the defendants, order pickers for the brand, set up a theft scheme by trickery with three female accomplices, customers of the brand. When they ordered online, they received many more items than they paid for. And for good reason, out of sight, the order pickers added additional items to the packages or changed the order placed.

Nineteen luxury bags were stolen. The order pickers, of Moroccan, Senegalese or even Central African nationality, put luxury bags in the packages instead of items of similar size, but less expensive. The six suspects were arrested and taken into custody. The Hermès company has decided to file a complaint.
