So far, the province has completed the rectification of 10,742 Yangtze River sewage outlets. The Hubei Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment held a press conference on the 6th to introduce the province’s battle against pollution.

Hubei is the only province with a Yangtze River runoff mileage exceeding 1,000 kilometers. The province continues to implement high-level protection and improvement of the Yangtze River. At the same time, a groundwater environment monitoring network and a provincial "dual source" groundwater monitoring network have been built in the Hubei section of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Data shows that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Hubei deployed a total of 326 provincial-controlled monitoring sections, of which 190 were state-controlled monitoring sections. Monitoring data shows that the overall water quality of the main stream of the Yangtze River, the main stream of the Han River, and the tributaries of the Yangtze River in the province is excellent. Compared with the same period last year, the overall water quality of the Yangtze River and Han River mainstreams remained stable, and the overall water quality of the Yangtze River tributaries improved. The water quality of the Hubei section of the main stream of the Yangtze River has remained at Class II for five consecutive years, and the water quality of the Danjiangkou Reservoir has remained stable above Class II.
Zhu Jinqiao, director of the Water Ecological Environment Division of the Hubei Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, said that Hubei focuses on improving the quality of the water ecological environment and continues to strengthen comprehensive management of the ecological environment and pollution control in key areas. Before the end of 2024, the province will complete the rectification of 90% of the sewage outlets of the Yangtze River and 70% of the sewage outlets of key tributaries (lakes and reservoirs).
In addition, we focused on 53 non-standard and risky sections and promoted rectification. Promote special management of key lakes such as Honghu Lake, Liangzi Lake, and Futou Lake. We will further improve the cross-county river basin mechanism and continue to promote the operation of cross-city joint prevention and control mechanisms in 19 key river basins. (over)
